Mussoorie-travel here is fun

It was a sudden urge to go out from the maddening crowd of Delhi. I decided to be at a hill top next day which was a sunday. I blurted out my plans to my wife and we were ready for another fun packed action. We decided to meet at interstate bus terminal at 3 pm and start our voyage. As usual she was late and I kept waiting for her at the terminal....but she did come and we were off to a bus to visit what is called Mussoorie.
treks of Mussoorie

It was very sunny day and till the evening we were basking in sun but my excitement didnot let that ruin my enthu. Bus was running down the road and it was a pleasant evening .It gives me great pleasure to watch fields and villages passing by from the bus. The zipping past of the eucalyptus trees and seeing people work on the field is a experience which is more enjoyable than the place of visit. Jams at the major cities is what I hate but can do little about it.

Going for uphill task(mussoorie trek)

It was getting late in the evening and according to my calculations we had to reach Dehradun by 9 pm but it was getting darker and darker. The main worry was that we had to find our hotel after alighting from the bus. Bus was going right and left throught the dark and we could not figure out where we had come. We asked the locals travelling with us about the address but they confused us more. I decided to think about our place of stay after we get down from the bus. We did get out of the bus but it was 10.30 at night. It was pitch dark there at the terminal. We searched for a auto-rickshaw and were happy when he said he knew the place. We headed to our destination zooming past the buildings right left and where not. He screeched to holt his richshaw at a gate and said this was the place. We saw the building it was nothing like we had in mind we asked the guard .To our surprise it was 11 pm at night and we were standing beneath a wrong building. The driver had no idea about the place and 20 minutes ago he claimed to know the place. We phoned the hotel and then let the driver had his directions right. It was a nightmare we did not know where the driver was taking us. He was angry with us and now we were sitting in this auto trusting him to take to our rightful destination. To our relief we did reach the place after a long search session thru lanes and pains.

It was a nice room with nice lighting and comfortable accomodation. But we had come late so no dinner for us. I was prepared for this....coz I had an apple in my luggage.

Next morning we were up early so that we could reach Mussoorie at time. But time was not our side ,we went to bus terminal and waited for bus that never came. We wasted at least 2 hrs there. We met with a lawyer there ..I dont know what to say but he kept talking to me whether we replied or not. He was a local and soon he would comment upon anything I would nod with a smile on my face. He told us that we can take a taxi from railway station if the bus does not come and we headed off to railway station. He came along with us till railway station and he could not shut his mouth even for one minute.

We reached the railway station and took a cab to Mussoorie .It was a pleasant day but we were late in our mission. We were going round and round thru the mountains ,shifting one side and to other on our seat. A quiet river was flowing along the way and it gave rise to picturesque images.

Diving at Kempty fall

When we reached the place ,first thing we went looking for was a nice restaurant. It was a beautiful place with minimum furniture and a clean look. We had aloo ka parantha and some sandwich and our stomach was full. We were carrying luggage with us so we thought of getting rid of it. We searched for a circuit house and safely placed our luggage there. Now we were ready to roar and check out the jungle. First we were to head towards the kempty fall so we hired a rickshaw and headed towards the taxi stand. Here you have to book a taxi for whole day...we shared our taxi with a couple .The couple had two sweet kids and both husband/wife were working in govt setup. Again we on the road going up and down the hill. We stopped at a place flooded with taxies and private vehicles. We reached kempty fall and I could see myself bathing in waterfall. It was the best place for us to relax. We dived in the water which was actually quite cold but the feeling of waterfall on our head was quite powerful to resist. We took floating tube and experimented with it. I went underwater swimming .It was just great. We longed to stay longer but we had to go other places too.

It was 2.00 in afternoon and were having hunger pangs. Food at Mussoorie is fresh and lovely unlike at kedarnath which was more of a bland. We had enough food for the day to last. Now we were off to a temple which looked like lotus temple at Delhi. It shined like a moon at the hilltop and we headed towards the moon. It was a new temple made up of sangmarmar stone. It was burning when we went up to it as sunlight turned the white stone into burning amber. Our feet were heated but we could sense the cool breeze touching our skin. It was contrast of some sort.
then we went to a buddhist temple. It was a place where bhikkhus were celebrating the arrival of monsoon and were being gifts from the locals. According to buddhist tradition as monsoon comes bhikku goes into forest and cant come out to homes to get alms. So devotee gifts them food and clothings so they dont have to struggle during rainy season. We rang the buddhist bells there so much fun. for more on buddhism

Our last stop was going to be a lake ....I cant remember it's name but it looked artificial to me. We had to go down so many stairs to get there. It was a lake where some kids were boating and rest were eating at local shops there. It was a ok place nothing great.
The driver took us back to the mall road and we were off to some shopping in the evening. We tried some clothes and some decorative pieces there. Then we had a tea with special samosa that was empty inside. We had a good time at Mussoorie and I had won Mussoorie in a single day.
